After a successful first meeting, we all agreed to meet again in two weeks. When we met on Thursday February 26, we had a lot more information to discuss. We now know the names of four former Sarnia Historical Society board members: Bob Mathers, Ron Deacon, Robert Speers and Dennis Crockford. We learned that Bob Speers and Dennis Crockford had since passed, but that Bob Mather and Ron Deacon were still living in Sarnia. Phil had also learned that the city had retained all of the Society’s papers and he planned to meet with the City’s Controller to discuss the Society’s financial situation. We all agreed that this was critical information to acquire before deciding whether to pursue taking over the Sarnia Historical Society or to begin constructing something entirely new.
