At our third meeting on March 12, we finally had some concrete answers about the state of the former Society’s finances and the possibility of taking it over. After meeting with Scott McEachern, Phil discovered that the former Society’s bank account had been closed and all remaining money was handed over to the city. While the former Society owed some money to BDO for the bookkeeping, there was no evidence that the Society had been in arears. As a result, we all agreed that we would pursue taking over the Sarnia Historical Society. We knew that our next order of business was to contact the two remaining board members, Bob Mathers and Ron Deacon, and arrange to meet them.
At this meeting we also formally announced our roles:
Ron Smith as President
Laura Greaves as Vice President
Phil Egan as Secretary Treasurer
We are all looking forward to meeting the former committee members and letting them know our plans.
