Lambton County Archivist Dana Thorne hosted a screening of vintage film footage from Sarnia and the surrounding area on April 8 at the Sarnia Library Theatre.  While not quite as well attended as the movie night they held in Alvinston (more than 130 people showed up for that night!) the screening was nevertheless a chance for those interested in Sarnia’s past to come together and view old films, talk about them and ask questions. Thorne picked films covering five decades of Sarnia’s history, beginning with several clips from the 1930s and ending with a promotional video shot in Sarnia in the 1970s.  Thorne even included scenes from the 1939 fall fairs in Wyoming, Brigden and Forest.  The ferris wheel at the Brigden Fair looked like it was spinning at dangerously high speeds, but miraculously there were never any reported injuries.
