Bob McCarthy is a local author, historian and retired teacher working to compile 150 stories from across Lambton County, stories that highlight the county’s history. He has written 11 books on local and family history.
Bob discussed his latest project with us at our last Sarnia Historical Society meeting, which took place on Tuesday, January 10th at the Royal Canadian Legion. His newest project looks to mark Canada’s sesquicentennial in a unique way. He is asking individuals in the community to select a year and tell a story about an event that occurred, including 5-15 pictures. These stories will then be compiled into PowerPoint presentations and shared on a website.
Bob showed us the process to follow if you’d like to write a story and the Sarnia Historical Society has agreed to write 10 of them (more on that to come). In the video below, Bob discusses his vision for the project:
For more information about the project or to contact Bob McCarthy, email [email protected] or call him directly: 519-542-1581.
Bob also brought some of historical items to share with the group. I was delighted to see all of the projects Bob has been a part of in our community over the last decades. He is such a knowledgeable person and we are so thankful he freely shares his stories with us.
For instance, did you know that Lambton County had a board game made?
